WHAT is about women and their shoes. Not sure about you, but my biggest weakness — and obsession — is shoes! I love shoes.
As a former fashion editor, I used to do the power suit thing and worship at the altar of high heels! But these days, I’m more at home wearing flats, riding boots, men’s lace-up Oxfords, loafers, sneakers, Birkenstocks, and gorgeous sequinned and embellished slides.
Shoes can also be expensive but you get what you pay for! As a little girl, I remember my grandmother saying that we spend two thirds of our lives on our feet, so it is really important to wear good quality leather shoes with leather inners, uppers and soles. However, good leather shoes are not cheap — particularly the designer brands I covet!
Fashion is fickle and styles come and go. But it’s also meant to be fun and shoes are a cost-effective way of updating your look and injecting some personality! A dark-coloured peach dress for a wedding? You could wear nude or silver shoes/sandals and bag. Or perhaps black or navy shoes/sandals and bag.
It all depends on the time/season of year and style of wedding.
