SHE was a style icon, but as a new First Lady — Melania Trump — enters the White House, it’s a great time to reflect on the chicest of them all — Jackie Kennedy.
While Michelle Obama was the chicest First Lady in the White House since Jackie, it was Jackie’s modern appearance that left a lasting legacy.
Jackie loved to wear Oleg Cassini, Hubert de Givenchy and Christian Dior. Her chic ensembles — think A-line dresses, pastel suits, pearls and gloves — easily translated to modern American women.
Even after the passing of her beloved JFK in 1963, Jackie’s style continued to evolve. Her marriage to Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis saw her embrace a more relaxed European style. She brought Lilly Pulitzer print dresses, capri pants, silk scarves, jewelled sunglasses and oversized sunglasses to the masses. And remained one of the world’s most stylish women up until her death in 1994.
In celebration of what would have been the former First Lady’s inauguration day 56 years ago, let’s take a look at some of her most memorable style moments.
